rspb BIG Schools’ Birdwatch 2026 : Year 4 : class 4JM

29th Jan 2026

Mrs Murphy’s class participated in the rspb BIG Schools’ Birdwatch 2026 in our school grounds. There was great enthusiasm and interest in this Outdoor Learning activity with the boys and girls bringing in his/her own binoculars and to identify the birds flying past or singing high up in the branches of the trees.
The number of birds were recorded using tally marks and the data presented in bar graphs in follow up lessons back in class in Using Mathematics. The school results of the BIG Schools’ Birdwatch 2026 are sent to the rspb and this helps the rspb and the Ornithological Society Uk, to collate a much wider local and global environmental picture of our climate, fauna, insect and bird populations throughout the UK and Worldwide.

Thank you to all parents and carers for supporting your child and encouraging him or her to bring into school a pair of binoculars for this rspb BIG  Schools’ Birdwatch 2026.
