Year 6 OB/CH Clay Scarab Beetles in our Outdoor Classroom

8th May 2026
This afternoon, we took our learning to our outdoor classroom where we made Ancient Egyptian inspired scarab beetle amulets. Scarab beetles were important symbols in Ancient Egypt because people believed they represented rebirth, protection and good luck. The Egyptians linked the scarab to the sun god, Ra, as they believed the beetle rolling the ball of dung across the ground was like Ra moving the sun across the sky each day. Scarab amulets were often worn or placed with mummies for protection and to bring strength and new life.
