Today, pupils in Mrs Carson’s class listened to News Desk to find out more about Red Squirrel Appreciation Day.
Pupils discovered the purpose of the long bushy tail - the tail is as long as the squirrel’s body and is used to help them balance, helps them slow down when jumping and wrapping themselves up to keep warm.
Red squirrels are also fantastic acrobats and great swimmers.
We found out that a baby squirrel is called a kitten.
