Year One were so excited to have the opportunity to learn how to programme a Bee-Bot. There was the opportunity to use directional language when programming the device. Year One are looking forward to experimenting more with the device. Already some pupils are curious as to whether or not they will be able to programme the device to turn.

This week we are learning all about firefighters. We talked about how their uniforms need to be waterproof. We carried out an experiment to find out which material is best used to make a firefighter’s uniform. We used droppers to add water to paper, tissue, plastic and cloth. At our School Council January meeting we discussed Healthy Breaks. Our discussion led to the idea of creating posters to promote Healthy Breaks. As a Rights Respecting School we recognise our right to healthy food. We worked in pairs to design posters on iPads. Year 7NT have been enjoying learning a dance similar to that which the people would have danced on the Titanic. The children have been working in groups of four to create a dance to traditional music and have been working on improving the dance each week.

The pupils in Mrs Mack’s class enjoyed learning about how the fantastic block building toy started in a little workshop in Denmark back in 1932. Ole Kirk Christiansen, a carpenter, who began making wooden toys, had no idea that these humble beginnings would eventually lead to one of the most iconic toys in the world.
